Are LS1 v6 springs the same thing as the V8? The springrates page shows same rate and is the same height.. can't be heavier at that end because its the same body back there.

That would be kinda interesting if people were swapping out their springs for the same ones

LS1 is NOT a V6 so with that being said they arent the same.... V6 springs are softer which creates better launch...

Stranos here (w/ Koni shocks). Firm ride, but not too firm. I daily drive the car on Northern Indiana roads (which suck)

Ok so clarification.. I'm looking at the 98-02 springs on the springrate page and I'm seeing same rates.. I'm assuming same heights too. I'm wondering if they are the same thing. I don't know.. that's why I'm asking.

LT1 years 93-97 appear to have different rear springrates though.

The factory LS1 V-8 spring works the best in my opinion.

I have seen people run fast on the V-6 spring don't get me wrong but I do not see it as an advantage.

What type of shocks are on the car?

as of right now all suspension is stock!!! except for the lower control arms and relo brackets... i was just asking about the springs bc ive heard they help launch better due to being softer and they are cheap...im looking into springs, shocks, subframe connectors, and i just bought an adj panhard bar...

According to the page z28bryan is referring to (http://www.angelfire.com/my/fastcar/suspension.html) the V6 rear springs are actually not any "softer" (they have the exact same rate, 114lbs/in) than the LS1 rear springs. The front springs on the other hand are softer.

Depends on what you want, what you're willing to sacrifice (ride, handling, street ability?) the power you make, tires, and the rest of your suspension.
If your simply looking to get a better 60ft I would first get the best tires you can.

This is one concept that I don't understand yet... people like stock springs for drag racing, yet I don't think a lot of hardcore drag racers are using stock springs. I can never find any information on "why" people like certain springs better for drag... just a lot of opinions.

So nobody knows for sure if 98-02 fbody v6 and v8 rear springs are identical?

Actually I have quite a few customers still running the stock springs.

Most common reason to change them is for a mini-tub and they convert over to the 2 1/2" coilover spring but the spring rate still remains close to stock in most cases.
