Default Rack & Pinion steering

So after the alignment shop fixed me up, they said that it LOOKS like my rack and pinion steering is leaking. It doesnt drive weird or make any noise. They think i should replace it. Its not cheap so im gonna check it out on the lift myself. What should i be looking for fellas? dampness, discolor from leakage, play, tears, etc? I tried searching but everyone just asks about deleting ps and such.

Look for dampness around the tie rod boots near the rack (not out at the tie rod ends).

Mine leaks, it has for a long time. Doesn't affect anything except every couple months I need to top off the fluid. No biggie, right now I figure I just am having a gradual fluid change all the time

I think everyone's or most anyway has a very minor weep per say. year make & model would help + milage on car. I'd also check all the fittings for tightnes first.

So i looked underneath and noticed that 'weep' that seems to be on every car ive ever looked under. Its so clean otherwise you'd be jealous lol. its an 02 z28 (i love z28's. just puttin that in) with 75k. Ive also heard of an additive that works really well called Trans X. Ever heard of it? should i use it? supposed to prolong the life of the steering system...

btw i just looked. can't get it on the lift till tomorrow so ill check the tightness then.
