Default driver rotor warped. What to do with brakes now?

I have a 2002 camaro z28 with some bolt-ons and almost 20000 miles. My driver side front rotor is warped I think (my car shakes and the brakes grab, and then dont grab, grab, and then dont grab, on the front driver side when i try to stop. What should I do? I am planning on asking a dealer to see if the rotor is salvagable which I will post when I know, but lets just say I need new rotors and pads, what should I look into and what price range would it put me in.
Is it ok to improve the front brake rotors and pads without the back? Can i just replece the pads in the back if the rotors are ok if I have to get new rotors in the front?

thanks

Don't mess with the factory rotor(s). They are junk. It maybe could be turned but will just warp again. Been there, done that. Buy some decent rotors and be done with it. I have Powerslots (very durable in my experience) but good blanks (no holes or slots) from a parts store should work fine. And yes, it's OK to just upgrade the fronts.

600 should be more than enough - depending on which options your car has you can get a "discount" brake package from Strano:

http://www.stranoparts.com/searchbym...&CategoryID=90

He's a sponsor on here - and most of the products he carries come highly recommended.

Good luck.

Is this a track car or just a DD or weekend ride? If you are looking for stock braking performance put back like brand new, then go to Orielly, buy 2 front rotors ($30 apiece) and a set of their better pads (prolly about$35) Install. Done.

You could look into seeing how much it would cost to turn them, if it cost almost as much to get new rotors do that instead.

Here's what I did for my car on mostly DD driving and I was very pleased. Ws6store (sponsor) rotors on all four corners (slotted/drilled - just for looks) and HAWK HPS pads on all four corners.

Rotors: $169 for all four
Hawk HPS up front: $90ish
Hawk HPS out back: $70ish

You'l get improved breaking power thanks to the pads, and better looks thanks to the rotors and they won't warp nearly as easily as the stockers did. In fact I never warped them. I did ultimately crack a set, but I made the mistake of using them on Laguna Seca, something they definitely aren't suitable for...but DD, they worked great!

I've since upgraded to C5 rotors so I'd have better/cooler braking at the track.
