Access holes to replace rear shocks? Is this factory?
I replaced my rear shocks the other day while i was putting some other suspension parts on. At first i thought i had to take the carpet out in the rear to get to the upper shock bolts. Then i thought to myself "well, i'll fold the rear seat forward and see if there are access spots to get the upper bolts." sure enough there was! It made it real simple. Now some people are trying to tell me that those access holes were previously cut by another owner and that its not factory? This car had the factory shocks in the rear, never replaced. The access holes weren't actually "cut" all the way through. It was just an outline of where you would punch the holes out yourself with a screw driver such as i did. Kind of like a box of macaroni has the little "outline" where you punch your thumb through and pull back the top. I'm still being told that this is not factory? Can anyone help me here?
Here is a picture. All the sound deadening/insulation was all in tact and that i did have to cut out. This is why i don't understand why they wouldn't be factory.

Maybe it was just the Camaros came with cuts in the carpet?
My '02 WS6 did not have any cuts in the carpet and it also had a white foam pad around the top of both rear shocks.

My 98 ws6 had the perforations on the carpet, but they were not cut from the factory.
It is a 5 minute job to pull the carpet back and the side panels off, so I do not understand why you would cut the carpet unless you had adjustable shocks. (I guess if you have a 2000+ car with the baby seat anchors it would take longer, like 8 minutes)

I knew these had to be factory. But some other guys on another forum kept saying they were cut by a previous owner. Which didn't make sense to me because the car still had the factory shocks in the rear and the access holes were centered above the shocks perfect.

My car didn't have these either. Had to cut the carpet. I don't know if there were any perforations or not, that I didn't even think to look for. I'll have to check it out next time I'm back there. Did have the foam underneath. 97 Z28 here.

now you can go back to the 12yr old up the street and tell them that everyone on the internet disagrees with them and says that the perforations in the carpet are stock (mine had them too).

My perforations were stock, I cut them open with a box cutter for easy shock removal. I cut them open on friends cars as well when it comes time to remove the shocks When you use a box cutter it comes out nice and clean with the exception of the carpet padding, but that can be tucked away. The foam covers are factory..
