Default BMR Torque Arm Clunk

Has anyone else experienced the "clunk" from the BMR torque are mounted to the transmission. What was the cause and what did you do to fix the problem. Is the front bushing needing lubricantion ever a problem or source of the problem?

Hello,

When does it thump? Under hard acceleration? Is the vehicle lowered at all?

Aftermarket torque arms (all brands) feature a larger and wider mounting bracket where it mounts to the rear end. With this set up the bracket can hit the tunnel area under hard acceleration or bumps causing a "clunk", it will be worse if the car is lowered. Some clearancing in this area would be a good fix, if this is an issue. Also an adjustable panhard bar can be used to shift the rear end slightly, again if this is the issue.

Hope that helps,
Ryan

The car already has an adjustable panhard rod and the sound seems to be coming from the front or middle of the car. I'll be spending some time under it until I figure out exactly what it is... it will either get better or worse and be easier to pinpoint. Just hope nothing breakes before then.

When you get the car up on stands load the rear end and see if you can duplicate the noise by trying to push up and down on the front of the torque arm. Also make sure that the front mount is tight where the torque arm attaches to the relocation crossmember. I have seen these loosen allowing the torque arm mounting bushing to move up and down. This can typically be heard as the car transitions from acceleration to braking...
