Softest/stickest tire you guys run on the back and still turn on?

Softest/stickest tire you guys run on the back and still turn on?
Yes I put this question here for a reason. Hopefully it won't get moved to the tire section. I am asking here because I want to know from guys that like to turn their car.
In the never ending pursuit to get my car to do a bunch of things well I am trying to decide on a rear tire. After talking to Sam a few days he suggest I try a drag radial on the back. I have added a lot of power to the car but still like to turn.
I am looking at the g force BFG drag radial 2 and the Nitto NT05R. The NT05R sidewalls are suppose to be stiffer.
Sam didn't feel it would be that big of deal to use a drag radial on the back and still be able to turn as long as the air pressure is right. I know these tires are going to wear fast and that's fine.
Has anyone out there done this?
Thanks.

I know for a fact you won't get a straight obvious answer to all of this. Just experiences and random opinions.
For my experience and random opinion.. I've been running Nitto 555r drag radials all around on my car in my local spec drag events. So I'm turning, but not hardcore like in autocross. There are stickier tires out there for launching, no doubt, as well as turning. It's perfectly capable as a handling tire, but it won't be competitive compared to other tires no doubt.

The Nitto 555RII has the same tread pattern as the 555R drag radial but used for handling so might check that out. I heard the Kumho XS which is in the same catagory as the Nitto NT05's has a little softer side wall.
other to look at
BFG R1's
Michelin Sport Cup
I'm personally going to try the NT05's

As far as the 100 treadwear classification of tires out there, the 555r's probably launch the best. In my racing events, we need 100 treadwear or higher. I've launched off the 555rII's and the NT01's. Both are great for handling, but I've found that I struggled during my launches with those on my rear compared to the 555r's.
Who knows.. it might be more because of my new clutch. I liked my worn clutch better for launching

You know what might help is if the OP told us what he plans to do with his car.. what racing applications he plans on doing.. what classes he plans to run in. Stuff like that may determine what tires are ok and what ones he won't want to use.

I have strano/koni's at the moment. I did a H/C/I/E swap and will need more traction. There are a lot of good twisty roads where I live and I love to corner. I do not auto x the car.
I am sure there will be a street race here and there but I am still running the stock 7.5 rear.
Basically I am trying to get the car to do a bunch of things well, but not one thing great if that makes sense.
I know in the world of cars you can't have things both ways.

It's a street car. Not a daily driver, just when its nice out. Will see the track once or twice just to see how fast it is.

No single tire is going to be the #1 best for everything. So I gave you my opinion for a good balance for what you do, and that's pretty much street driving with a trip to the track once in a while.

As far as I know, the 555rII extremes have a bit stiffer sidewall. They are probably more predictable when you're at the limit.. but if your just playing around on the street, I don't think your going to be at the limit enough to tell the difference. They won't grab as well on a launch though as the 555r drag radial. The 555r will ride more comfortably too, like a normal street tire.
No offense to anyone, but almost all people who say they like to play around on the street aren't really pushing it. You can't understand unless you've been on a autocross or road course. If you are, then hope no one's coming the other direction! But I doubt you are. So this is why I don't see the need to be real picky about putting on some real competitive road course tire.
We know you want to launch good.. 555r will be pretty decent for that on street and strip. They will work pretty good in the rain, you'll get 10k or a little more street miles on them. And they aren't going to let go for you taking a corner. Either that or go for a similar style street radial.

This is very very true. I know a little something about driving fast on the street especially in traffic. You never want to drive 100% on the street. It's a scary line to be at. Once again a good post Z28bryan.

got any suggestions for a better tire? i like the r888s since they don't take a minute to get sticky, will glue my car to the road during spirited driving or autox (under a minute per run) and can actually be driven on the street. i've driven hard on them for a long HARD canyon run (not sure if you were being facetious, but it really was about 15 minutes for a 12 mile road with a lot of tight corners) and have witnessed just a little of this grease you're talking about.

Check into the Nitto NT05 (regular, not R) as well. It will not be as sticky as a DR, but its about the stickiest true street tire I know of and is supposed to be amazing in corners. Basically they have a very sticky compound but a stiff sidewall so they're sort of like a version of a road race tire for the street. I'll be putting a set on to try them out in a couple weeks. The regular NT05 falls somewhere between an a UHP compound and an R compound. The Falken RT-615 is in the same category but a lot say it isn't as predictable and tends to overheat easier on a heavy car like ours. That said, it does sound like a DR may work nicely too.
