Picked up some Eibach lowering springs for the front of my car, I pulled the assembly out and tried to get the top nut off but its so badly rusted I cant get a socket on there to turn it.
I would just go buy autozone struts but I also need that top plate out. Any ideas or anyone have some struts and top plate they arent using?

I chopped the nut off the one, and chopped the shock's shaft in half on the other to get it apart.
Oh, might want to plan on replacing the rubber mounts, they will probably tear or separate when you remove them from the shocks. Either OEM or Moog. The isolator (trapezoidal shaped thingy on top) is probably ok.

I used a plasma cutter. That nut didn't stand a chance.
I would replace the upper strut mounts if I were you. I tore the center out a few months ago and it was a serious bitch getting the assembly apart.

Yeah. Think of it this way - if you don't need them, then return them. But they take a day to get in at Advance auto (not kept in stock in store), so instead of taking apart, then finding you need them, and waiting an extra day to finish the job (like I did), you'd have everything you need.
