HELP! Noise From Tubular Front End
Ok, so I put a new UMI tubular K-member and tubular adjustable A-arms in my car, and now Ive got a noise that I cant track down or get rid of. Its a popping sound on small to medium sized bumps at just about any speed. More so at slower speeds though. When I compress the suspension myself it will make the noise. If I slowly compress it the noise is consistant, if I really rock the car hard it doesnt make the noise.
Heres the tricky part, it sounds like the noise is being cause by two pieces of metal, under pressure on each other, sliding against each other. Not like somethin is traveling with the suspension and hitting somethin else. If that makes sence.
Also, the suspension travels just fine. Its not like theres some interferance causing the noise.
Everything was tight to begin with, but I rechecked everything and had no luck.
I did notice the bottom of the strut is really close to the top of the A-arm, so I got my feeler gauges out. The smallest gauge (0.010") wouldnt fit. So could that be it? The passenger side is the same way, but doesnt make a noise.
Setup is parts listed, plus Stranos and AGX's. Sorry for the long winded post, jsut tryin to povide all the info I can. Thanks.

The ball joints are similar but if I remember correctly we are using a different part # than stock.
As for the shock being close to the A-Arm, the KYB shock features a very large shock bottom and this common but does clear. Did you install the two supplied aluminum plates in between the shock and the A-Arm? This gets the shock up and sway from the A-Arm as well as helps to distribute the weight of the shock through the A-Arm.

Ok, got it all sorted out.
The ball joints are the same as the stock ones. Like I said, that was the problem. Got new ones in both sides for ***** and giggles. Glides like a cloud now.
