a STB should be the last thing you buy for handling and maybe the first thing you buy for dressing up under the hood

In a car with MacPherson strut suspension, the shock/damper is a stressed suspension member. This means load paths through the strut towers, which could warrant reinforcement. If you have double A-arms, the forces are not transmitted through the shock towers in the same manner.

The only thing it's good for is, if you're short like me, giving you something to grab on to when you're working in the back of the engine bay.

I think that the price of a STB is cheap enough that debating whether or not it really helps is not really worth it.

I disagree, why would I spend $65 and add 5 lbs. to the nose of my car for nothing

Ok here's my simple answer, and I've owned my Camaro for over 10 years and race on it in two different type of events, so I feel like my info is pretty valid here.

Does it do anything? I didn't feel anything when I added one honestly. Maybe it does something, maybe it doesn't. But one things for sure... there's plenty of other modifications that will do WAY MORE than the STB is gonna do for you, like a front swaybar for instance. Hands down!

I really believe that most of people here say it did something because they want to believe they didn't just waste their precious 100-200 bucks

This is almost a monthly re-post like the sub-frame threads, the best handling springs threads etc...

Unless some new statical facts is proven it's near a 50/50 split as to which works best or is the best mod.

Problem is everyone has different goals and price points how they mod. At least you came to the right forum. lol

I thought my answer was pretty simple. If you are looking to improve the handling of your car save the money for something else. If you are trying to improve the look of the engine bay, it is a great, cheap mod.

With just STB, SFC, and cross drilled brake rotors on an otherwise stock car, my lap times improved by 2.3s at Laguna Seca and 2.6s at Infineon.

I'm sorry, I am lying. The bottom line is if you really want one then buy it. Regardless of what the butt-meter tells you it most likely won't improve anything. You will add a little weight to the nose, and maybe strengthen something that doesn't need strengthening. So as a go fast mod I think it is worthless. But if you are into appearance and car shows it isn't a bad mod to dress up the engine bay.

When you drop the motor out the bottom of the car, an STB works great at stabilizing the shock towers while rolling the package around the shop.

I can FEEL the difference.

i dont have one , but i think , if you dont mind adding a little weight to the nose of your car , its not something really expensive , so just try it .. i just think stb threads are useless , its just people arguing whether they can "FEEL İT" or not lol
so just give it a try , i personally dont think its something i'll be getting anytime soon , but they are not that expensive so i might get one and see when i have the time...
if nothing , it'll give your engine bay a nice look

Persoanlly I could care less how useful it is as a brace, it has paid for itself in being useful for doing repairs. I hate stretching across the engine bay and being assaulted by various sharp angles.
