Default Another motor mount comparison thread.

So after spending about two hours reading various threads on poly vs solid mounts, I still haven't found the info I'm looking for.

I know most people with poly mounts say go for it, most people with solid mounts say go for it, etc. That's not the type of feedback/info I'm looking for. I'm definitely going with one, and I'm well aware there will be at least *some* increase in cabin noise/vibrations (there sure as hell was a massive noise increase with a poly trans mount). What I want to know is has anyone swapped FROM poly mounts TO solid mounts (or has a car with each) that can compare/weigh in on the increase in vibes between the two.

Again, I'm not looking to hear "I notice very little vibe/noise with XXX mount", I want to know HOW MUCH MORE (or less) vibe and sound you got going from poly to solid. I've got no interest in any comparison to stock as I'm definitely going with one or the other.

I don't think the vibration increase was that bad when I went to poly engine and transmission mounts. I've got a 400+ hp engine under my hood.. I'm not trying to pretend its a luxury car. I like to feel the power through the shifter... don't take that the wrong way, lol

So there was definitely an increase going from poly to solid? I've long suspected there might not be just because of how hard polys actually are.

You notice much more noise transfer when swapping the trans mount then you do from the motor mounts mostly because the torque arm is attached directly above and it transmits road noise and driveline harmonics. There is very little noise transmission upgrading to poly motor mounts. solid mounts are a different story, you hear and feel everything.

My plan is to drop the transmission mount down to a stock rubber mount and either go with polys or solids for the motor mounts, I just can't decide which.

My polys added vibs, mostly around idle. And I liked it. I added solids and I ******* hated them. Way too much vibs at all rpms. They are coming off ASAP.

That's basically what I've heard from everybody when I've searched this. The engine mounts make a difference with vibration, but the transmission mount makes a much larger difference.

Right, that's why trans mount is going back to stock. I've just heard too many conflicting opinions on solid mounts. Some people say you can't even tell they are there unless someone tells you, others say they just about ruined their lives.
