Default Front end upgrade project..

This GW stuff is SOLID.. Some of the best fabrication work I have seen yet in the industry. I can't wait to get this stuff installed but my Koni D/A's are still around 3 weeks out before I get them back from being rebuilt..

I will also be getting a lightly used GW Track-Link Torque Arm as well.

Decided to replace all of the steering components while I have the front end torn apart.. So I spent some more monies..

NEW:
Inner Tie-Rods
Outer Tie-Rods
Lower A-arm Ball-joints (the new upper arms will have new Ball-Joints)
Shock Mount Isolaters

and a set of poly Bump Stops for the rear..

This is what I'd like to do as well. I love all tubular suspension setups. All that stamped steel really gets to me.

Well, I stuck with the stamped steel lowers due to sheer strength.. There is no tubular design on the market, including the beefy LG lower arms they used to make that is as strong as the stock lower arms.

The upgrade of swapping the rubber bushings for spherical bearings will be an excellent compromise between performance and strength.

As far as sheer strength, do you think that your suspension will ever be subjected to the sheer forces that it would take to damage the lower?

YES!

I live in Los Angeles and some of our pot-holes can swallow cars...

I also track the car quite frequently and sometime you hit a rumble-strip at near 100mph, its a lot of stress on the lower arm..

Tubular would be great, but I just dont see them holding up as long, especially in my case.

What's the part number for the rear bump stops? I was installing the Watt's on my car this afternoon and noticed one of mine is toast.

Well.. Got my Koni's back.. FINALLY.. Took 6 1/2 weeks as opposed to the quoted 4.. Oh well.. I missed one event at Big Willow, but apparently it was REALLY windy so I guess I didnt miss out on too much..

Well, I finally got my shocks back earlier this week.. They look and feel nice and new.. I can't wait to actually use them!!

So tonight I got to work on my car for a little bit.. about 3 hours at a relaxed pace.. I had just one goal today.. Get the driver side put together and worry about the passenger side tomorrow and/or monday... Well, here is what I got done today!

Got the lower A-arms in.. Oh the bearings look and feel nice!

ARP hardware everywhere possible...

Almost done.. Spindle on..

Spindle, hub, and brakes all bolted up and ready to go!!!!

Front brake setup is an old CMC2 setup a buddy sold me on the cheap..

12.2" rotors, 4 Piston calipers.. Good setup.

I started a thread about it a while back here (https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...pressions.html)

Ive been driving the car for a couple days now and it feels awesome. Increased road feedback (in a very good way), the rod-ends are not noisy at all and the car feels a lot more willing to turn in and just grip.

As of two weeks ago, I have also installed a GW Track-Link torque-arm. The car now is basically sporting a complete Global West suspension package and it seems to be working quite well.

I also finally got a chance to take the car out to the local road course (Streets of Willow)

This was my first time ever on this track, so I have no idea of how much of an increase in performance I have achieved though this setup, though I did have a couple of the 'hot-shoe' instructors drive the car and they were both impressed with the grip and stability of the car on the edge. Driving around town, there is a marked improvement in performance and just overall comfort. I guess that happens when you go from no shock damping (dead shocks) to new shocks.

So who installed the GW bushings in the lower control arms? Alan Blaine always said they were kind of a pain in the *** to do right.

I sent my stock lower arms directly to Global West and they did the work for me.

Made everything super easy for me!

Yeah, their stuff is top notch.. I am really happy with the whole package and would not hesitate to do it again, even if it was double the money.

It really is worth it.
