Question Trans Am Springs question....

I own a 2000 Trans Am with stock springs but I want to lower it. I bought a set of stock 03 vette rims and tires from a friend. Standard set, I think its 17s in the front and 18s in the rear. However, when I tried to put the rear tires on they rub the inner body so I installed a 1" spacer so they no longer rub. So the question is what lowering kit has everyone else used when doing this? I see vette wheels on camaros and T/A's all the time so i need to know what drop to use? I was thinking about a 1.5" drop all the way around and then roll the rear fenders but I am just not sure and before I spend the cash I need some info.

I did a 1" BMR drop on my old 2001 TA and had no issues with 17s. My 2000 has a 1" drop BMR spring kit and another 1" drop with QA1s and has no issues running 19's rear and 18's front with non-rolled fenders.

Budnik Fontanna Fatlip Billet aluminum wheels:
18 x 9.5 front
18 x 10.5 Rear
Bilstein shocks/ Eibach Sportlines

I recently upgraded to:
Koni DA (all around)
Strano Springs
on the same wheels
w/Corvette 4 piston calipers.

I had to roll my fenders. I did not have to use spacers.

So this means your wheels were not set a deep as the corvette's then. I put my wheels on and they wouldn't even bolt down. Thats why i used the spacer's. I think I need to go with the 1.2" drop all around with these wheels. It should be close and sit much lower than what I have but:

I was looking for some before and after photo's.

I'm running 18 x 10.5 C5 Z06 wheels in the rear on BMR springs and Koni shocks. Did a tiny bit of BFH to wheel wells and have no rubbing. I'm not running a spacer.

So just get in there and hammer it out of the way???? try not to pinch a fuel line or brake line then I guess.

Anyone else done this????

Anyone running vogtland shocks or hotchkis shocks?

We have had many guys use our BMR springs with bigger wheels and tires without any issues. Some do have to clearance the inner fender well in the back with a hammer but it sounds way harder than it really is, I had to do it on my 99 T/A to fit the C5 Z06 wheels I had on it. There is really nothing you have to worry about messing up.

Found out the problem. If you jack the car up by the frame the tire will rub against the bump stop mount but if you jack the car up at the rear axel it has no issues. Spacers have now been removed. Funny that no one mentioned this before.
