Default Car pulls in rutts hard

Ive had numerous f-bodies and my 95 i am driving right now is one of the worst at staying controllable on the road. it grabs and pulls in every little rutt on the pavement. what can i do to help this, it has to be something cause my cars have never done this before.

There are several things that could cause this. More often than not, it's the alignment settings. But there is a chance it could be anything from your tie rod ends, inner tie rods, steering linkage, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

First thing to check is easy, jack the front up and grab the wheel at 6 o-clock and 3 o-clock and try to turn the wheel. If it moves, it's your tie rods. Try the same thing at 12 and 6 and if it moves, it's ball joints. Inspect the steering linkage under the hood. If all else fails, many alignment shops will do an alignment check for less money than having it done. Tell them to check it after you tell them your problem and see if they can spot it in your toe or camber.

Uneven tire wear due to worn out parts/bad alignment settings can also magnify the problem.

Mine did this and was a stripped tie rod but the other poster covered all the bases too.

275's are about 10.50" wide at the tread. A tire wider than our stockers will pull or called "trammeling." Wider tires have a tendency to follow the cracks in the road. I know my 275 fronts pull like a bitch in the 18 wheeler ruts on certain sections of the HW.

Not saying that's your issue, but it's certainly adding to the problem. Possibly suspension issues as well like BMRTech2 has stated.

ive had 275s on all my 4th gens and never had this issue. its done the normal pulling but this is severe. i put it on the rack ill post up a pick of the numbers here in a sec.

i tried to give an alignment but the damn tie rod wouldnt adjust. the nut was stuck it just started loosening from the ball joint itself. couldnt get the nut to budge at all. sprayed it down and ill try tomorrow in class again

Looks like the toe needs to be fixed, and it wouldn't hurt the rest of the car if you got some on-car adjustable rear lower control arms to fix the thrust angle.

If you have a really wide sticky tire then it's going to happen. The tire wants to naturally sit on the pavement evenly.. so that means if it has to turn the wheel to adjust the camber to the road, then it might do that.

To fix this? Skinnier tires.. less sticky tires.. alignment changes. I just deal with it. It might be that something is loose too.. so I don't want to rule that out. But just so you know it's pretty natural to follow ruts depending on circumstance

ima have to try this.. my car has some pretty severe handling problems. There are times I have to turn the wheel 25% to go STRAIGHT. It's mainly when slowing down to a stop or pulling forward at low speeds. I have a new steering rack and tie rod ends already in the car, but all the other suspension is 135k miles old.. and 4 years of it's life was on a rocky dirt road. (I found gravel under the rack when it was replaced and LOTS of mud.)

my car does the same thing on the roads here in brooklyn....just something i deal with having wider front tires....you think these cars are bad ...i drive around an old blazer with 40" tires that are over a foot wide...when the truck hits the tractor trailer ruts in the road it will drag your *** all over the place no matter how hard you try to fight it

This indicates worn out bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends.

Roger that.. but no changes. I did mention to make sure nothing is loose or broken. But it's still possible that it could happen even with nothing wrong.

Road temparature and weather conditions can also effect it

Thread hijack, but check the alignment (it should have been aligned when the rack and tie rod ends were installed... was it??), bushings on the A-arms, ball joints, and make sure that the brake caliper sliding areas are greased up and the fluid is bled properly (sticking caliper can cause pulling when braking or resuming from a stop).

i will put it back on the rack tonight. also lift it up to check my ball joints and tie rods. tie rods seemed ok, little movement but ive had worse lol. ill get this toe fixed and see how it tracks. if i have to start replacing stuff so be it. just thought id get a little help and bring a decent post up for info. seems others could be having the issue as well.

but like i said this car of mine is way worse than my other 4th gens. which also had 275s on them. my c4 vette also had 275s all 4 corners and it was no where near this and i had stickier tires on it. i know different animal but i can really tell something is the issue as i know the normal pulling.

thanks for the help ill check everything and report back with fixes just so its not another empty thread

Check the bushings that mount the a-arms.

I'll vote fro this one as well. I like the Adj LCA idea to correct that thrust angle.
