99 trans am rear shocks replacement HELP!!!

Unhappy 99 trans am rear shocks replacement HELP!!!

i just bought a pair of shocks for the rear off my TA but i have never changed them since i only have 1 year with it and its time to replace the old ones. i cant seem to find the upper bolt/nut on top of the shock. can any one help me to find it. i took off the inner panels and found nothing, i looked underneath and cant see the top of the shock.
help please!

You need to pull back the carpet.

There is a video in this thread that gives you a quick overview on the install.

There is also an additional how-to for shocks here.

Some people tell you to cut the perforation in the carpet to get to the top of the shocks, but you don't HAVE to do that. I just pulled my carpet back and took out the rear panels to gain access.

i just did my new bilstien hd shocks and bmr lowering springs. as stated above jut pull back the carpet further there there i tried to find them for about 15 mins lol there under white foam atleast mine was the back is easy wait till you do the front ane your nut on the top of the shock bolt is rusted to hell

i ended up taking off the rear side panels and pulled the carpet all the way back, for some reason i thought that the foams looked like boob implants, lmao. finally its all done up. for now till i get some lowering springs all around.

Default Rear Shocks...why Springs?

Other than upgrading, curious what would prompt replacement of the rear springs while you're doing the shocks?

Some cars have perforated holes already cut in the carpet above the shock behind the rear seats. You don't have to pull the interior or carpet out.
