Default Raise car Emergency :(

i currently have a 00 camaro ss conv. i am deployed in germany the car has been registered for 3 years and now they want to give me problems saying the car is too low. im trying to figure out the cheapest and easiest way to fix this issue. the exhaust is hanging to low and is the problem that is causing it, the car needs to be raised about half inch-1 inch. after inspection i would like to be able to put the car back to where it is now.

i have koni adjustable shocks on there 8241-1139/1140 i believe stock springs, i have qtp stainless steel long tube headers 1 3/4, the tires are 225/55/17 they are tall to make the car sit higher.

i am not sure what step to take i read around and some people were talking about moog springs, i cant find anything about raising the car i only find things about lowering the car. any help would be greatly appreciated, the registration is expired so i need to order parts asap and get this fixed. i am going to post this in another section also not sure if this is the right one. thank you for any help given.

just buy some stock f-body springs, if you find out your's aren't, and adjust the koni's to the highest they can go. That will raise the car up enough to pass inspection, and it should be real cheap. You should be able to get them in the for sale section for next to nothing, just have the person shipping put them in USPS flat rate boxes and ship to your APO. I would assume that would be the cheapest way to ship them. Sucks that they're being d-bags about it

shoot just buy some rubber spring raisers and put them on all 4 corners, then take them back out after the inspection LOL

they are typically made for trucks to lift them cheeply but will work on any spring

do the heater hose mod, but leave the isolators in place. this will raise the rear some.

Not sure which groove you have the lower spring seat on the front of your Konis, but there are 2 grooves and clip that goes in the groove. If you are on the lower one, get the spring compressed and move it up one. I think they are about 1/2"-3/4" apart. On the rear you add heater hose to the upper and possiblt lower part of the spring to gain 3/8"- 1/2".

A pic of the grooves.

Just a couple thoughts off the cuff.

Last thought, I use a Ground Control perch and coil over kit on my Konis and you can adjust all 4 corners plus or minus about 1 1/2". Pretty easy to with a spanner wrench. A little expensive though.

Good luck.

I'm helping Tom raise his car for inspection. The whole thing is rediculous, but once these German techs get a thought in their head...they are unyeilding. For whatever reason, they are having a hard-on for his ride height.

Anyhow, was already thinking the heater hose mod (while retaining the stock spring isolators) would gain 1/2" on the rear. The FRONT is the real question. From this thread I've seen recommendations for truck spacers and raising the spring perches on the Konis.

Can a spacer (such as those to lift a truck) be added to the front and still allow the spring/shock assembly to bolt into the factory mounts? How bad will this screw the front geometry (alignment)..even if it's a temp fix?

Additional $0.02 appreciated.

Both umi and bmr make shock spaces for the front. I believe umi is 1/4 inch and bmr is 1/2 inch. And both can be stacked if needed.

jack the car up t take some weight off the coils, and jam some spring blocks in the end spings that are tight. That will raise the car up, and take them out right after.

Buy some Air Lift Drag bags, pump them up to 25psi and itll raise the car plenty, then just let some pressure out when its done inspection. They also help with launches.
