Default which type/brand of brake pads to buy

i have a 98 camaro z28, id like to know what type of brake pads i should buy and from which manufacturer. i do alot of drag racing but have stock suspension. may dabble in some circuit racing later.

im currently running ceramic pads. cant complain about them much. just a little fade when stopping from 110mph +

StopTech is the best street pad I've ever used and is the only street pad I would ever trust around a road course...Hawk HP Plus and HPS pads did not perform to the same degree as these when I tested them. I also have a GTO that is a little heavier than an F-Body. Hawk makes a great product but once you try StopTech's pads, you'll be committed to them as well. They're also cheaper than Hawks.

They're also terrific on the street.

I need a pad that produces as little dust as possible, I am tired of polished aluminum wheels looking like **** all the time. What do you guys suggest?

Ceramics pads can be used for less dusting. The tradeoff for low dust is usually less stopping power.

Agree. Anytime you have "more friction" you tend to remove either pad or rotor. When I ran Hawk MT4's on my late model, it tended to remove a ton of rotor and the pads were relatively stable.

Hawk has a nice chart on their site which shows dust and rotor life vs each other. http://www.hawkperformance.com/performance/

As mentioned above, you usually chose somewhat between performance (high dust) and low dust (low stopping power)

Get the Street Performance Pads and never look back. I'm certain you will not buy Hawk again for the street. haha (converted at least four people now)

Where to buy? well there are a lot of brake parts websites that sell them but Tirerack.com is a sponsor and their price is killer. Pick up some new PowerSlot rotors while you're at it and you'll have a "poor mans StopTech system" as I like to call it. Extremely high quality rotors and pads.

I've never ran StopTech, so I will not get into the debate between them and Hawk HPS. What I will tell you is this: my Grand Prix weighs in at nearly 4,000#. I have PowerSlot slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads and am pretty much committed for life. I'll give StopTech a try one of these days, but you'll have a better chance at me giving up my firearms (molon labe).

I'm going to try Stoptech this time around. I've been using Hawks for ages and I am looking for a better stopping performance. I know the trade off is more brake dust but I'm more into function over form.
