Default Best power steering upgrade?

What are the best upgrades for the steering? I.e., pump, pulleys, linkage, rack set up

What is your steering doing wrong in the first place? Feel? Overheating? Ratio?

What is the car doing wrong that you want to improve?

Nothing wrong other than 115000 miles on it I guess. It does seem to be making a crackling sound when I steer back n forth. Havnt quite tracked down the sound though. Anyway to see if the PS pump is good??? I think in 2001 they added a steering cooler to the Camaro v8 s. Didn't know if the stock setup is fine or if people upgrade it to perform better. It's my DD right now so I am not sure about manual steering.

OK..... crackling was just the steering linkage hitting a loose heat shield. Power steering seems to get hot.

Is a tranny cooler type just larger? I dont have a PS cooler stock. How bout the rack setup? Any more confirmations on the problems of driving with a bad pump?

Thanx for all the info again

Turn One pulley, you'll never have to pull the pulley to pull the pump again.

The Turn One pump is excellent and reduces fluid temperature and eliminates the power steering whine at full lock. Excellent upgrade for handling guys.

I read that the Turn one pump is a little stiffer compared to an OEM replacement, is this true?

If it is, how stiff is the steering, what is it comparable to?

Not the one to ask on this one. haha The car I drove with it never ran without it and it had a brand new rack so there was no back-to-back comparison for me. And, at the time, I was driving a '99 Trans Am, so it absolutely felt stiffer. What I do know is that it pushes the correct amount of power steering fluid and doesn't overexert itself like the factory pump. This could potentially mean it is smoother.

An alternative is PSC www.pscmotorsports.com

Send them your pump and for $100 or so, you get a pump rebuilt and revalved just like teh TO pump.

Used a bunch of them.
