Has anyone been able to order a set from gmpartsdirect? I read from an older post that these were on backorder nationally.

I work at a GM dealership so I went to parts and asked about the caliper's and yes there is no stock available and no date of when they will be avaiable. He seached the nation's inventory with the parts locator and found a few calipers at a few dealerships. That being said you could possibly contact the dealer's whom have the parts and order by phone, or if your local GM dealership has an account with the dealer who has the part your dealer could purchase the parts from that dealer whom has the parts.

So lets say you actually had a Caddy CTS-V and needed a new caliper because one failed or something. Are you telling me that GM would say "sorry we can't do anything for you so your car has no brakes?"

If you were the owner of a CTS-V and your vehicle was at the dealership in need of a caliper and there are none in any of the wearhouse's usually the dealership will place you into a loaner vehicle then place their order to GM as a "high priority" case with a "down vehicle" These type situations will usually go higher on the order list and be taken care of sooner, but it still may be a week or longer depending on the modivation of GM.

That seems kinda ridiculous for such a newer car. By the looks of things there doesn't seem to be any around anymore...

I called all around yesterday after receiving an email from Amazon that the RH caliper I ordered a month ago would be delayed another month at least. The LH caliper arrived within a day (only paid $96 shipped brand new!). I called PartsTaxi, Dave's Discount Auto, and a few other GM parts stores that I could find a number for and was not able to find one in stock. PartsTaxi said they could have one from a dealer sent to them but it'd take about a week or so to arrive at their location... That's the only place that even offered to obtain one for me!

Since I need the caliper within the next few days to do the swap before AutoFair, I ended up finding one used 88k mile caliper at a junk yard in Yuma, AZ for $133 with a pin kit already included. They shipped it same day so at least I'll have the caliper in time. Pretty crazy that it's so hard to get ahold of these dang things!

Obviously the stock brakes fbody wouldnt compare to the brembos, but for a regular guy wanting to do track days on a road course and eventually would like to get into B class, could you get the stock brakes to perform? Atleast not fade under constant heavy braking? Id like the 2nd gen ctsvs but there atleast double the cost for similar performance gains as the 4piston brembos
