Default What can I do to fix bad wheel hop?

I am happy to have the car putting out the kind of HP and TQ figures I want to see... but now I have encountered pretty serious wheel hop issues. It is so bad, that no matter what RPM I dump the clutch from, the right rear wheel clunks and jumps around. Even on the 1-2 upshift -- I no longer chirp that shift... I hop it. I can't do a burnout anymore, and I certainly can't leave the tree without getting kicked in the *** by some serious hoppage.

Does this make you think something may be broken? I pulled off the tranny mount and took a look at it -- it is fine. I was also told to inspect the stock trailing arms, but I am not sure what to look for here...

I am told that some aftermarket LCAs will do the trick and get rid of this. Anything else? I thought I would be ready to go once my bent pushrods were replaced, and everything was tuned in on the dyno, but it looks like I have more work to do ...

Check your tranny mount, and you torque arm mount.

Some quality rear lower control arms will help A LOT. If you upgrade the trans mount to a 1LE or poly mount and then the torq arm you should pretty much eliminate the hopping. Also...get yourself some subframe connectors if you don't have them already.

What will the SFCs accomplish?

SFCs are more to solidify the whole car. They help with everything handling related, really. If you want the best way to eliminate wheel hop, go with an adjustable torque arm mounted to the tunnel brace. LCAs help, but have varying results depending on how bad your wheel hop is. You sound like you could use LCAs and a torque arm, and do the tranny mount while you're under there.

LCA's just cover up wheel hop, the shocks cant properly dampen the tire. New shocks and LCA's together would help a lot.

Thanks, everyone. I guess I still have some work to do before I go back to the strip.

By the way, I gave it my first run hard through first and second gear, and on the 1-2 shift (from redline), the wheel hop was so intense, I almost lost control of the car. Something has gotta be done.

BMR bolt-in relocation brackets are the first thing
you should try, they go directly to the geometry
problem and install easily.
