Decided to invest in front shocks/springs, what should I get? QA1, Strange, or other? I decided to invest in front shocks/springs to help weight transfer on our terrible tracks, now I have Billsteins HD with WS6 springs all round.
What should I get for the front? Car is 90% street / 10% strip, auto, 3600#.
I see many here like Strange shocks over QA1. I just don't understand what all these "series" mean, do these shocks require their propriety springs, and how much adjustable do I need them?

I bought a set of used QA1 Type R's and single adj rears and LOVE them. I like the fact you can get a nice soft street right and then with a few clicks you can get aggressive at the track! I would highly recommend these shocks to anyone!

No, coil over means the coil is over the shock, like in the front. You can run a coil over in the rear, but many like myself, are running just a single adjustable shock and separate spring in the rear.
Single adj uses 1 **** to adjust comp and rebound. DA's have separate ***** to control each separately.

Single adjustable shocks adjust rebound only, bump is a set valve rate. Double adjustable shocks are adjustable on both bump and rebound separately. The front f-body shock is coil-over from the factory, the rear spring is separate for the shock, but can easily be converted to a coil-over setup. The benefit of the aftermarket coil-over setup is adjustable ride height and some weight loss.
I have the guaranteed best deal on any Strange or Afco shock setup. I can also do the QA1's, but the Strange shocks are better quality for the same or less cost.

5269 is the street version, uses a special spring(SPC300) that still utilizes the stock rubber upper spring mount.
5271 is the race version, includes a 2.5" ID coil-over upper spring seat and the mount for the spring seat on the shock shaft.
it is basically the exact same shock otherwise.

So with 5269, spring bearings go between spring and rubber upper spring mount?

I've got my Strange single adjustable front shocks finally and now I'm in the process of installing (though I broke top "stud" on one of them after torquing to about 37lbs).
I was a bit surprised to see that fully extended these shocks are not longer than my Bilsteins, so they will not allow the front of the car to raise higher. I thought they would be much longer. I'm thinking of getting new "stud" machined a bit longer to allow the car to sit higher relative to the shock. Is this a good idea or not?
