Default Cutting stock spring question

I know cutting them isn't ideal but do I need to cut the tops or the bottoms? I would imagine the tops but just making sure.

What did you use to cut them and how much of each spring?

I did tops on both. Worked out fine but I didn't really like how the rears looked after cutting. Not an issue with the weight of the car compressing them though.

on the front i used a spring compressor from auto zone free barrow. i cut the front with a dremal and a cut off wheel. one full coil

the rear i used a regular grinder and metal blade 1 1/2 coils

i did the cutting of the stockers due to reading posts of some springs sagging.
