Default Hotchkis Springs- 93-97 vs 98-02

Hey Everyone!

Shouldn't the suspensions components for all 4th gens be interchangeable? I was looking at some suspension kits yesterday and noticed the part numbers are different for a Hotchkis set on a 93-97 car vs 98-02.

What's the difference? What would happen if you got parts for the wrong set of years?

For me it's not just an idle question; I had Hotchkis springs on my 1995 Formula but then put them on my 2002 Z28 before selling the 'Bird-did I mess up?

Thanks for any help or feedback!!

Well, yes, and no. There are some small variances between the years that limit some interchangeability of parts. So K-members, transmission crossmembers, brake components, some strut tower braces, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things. We list fitment by year and model on our site for this very reason.

But, there could be some companies that have LT1-specific suspension parts to compensate for the additional weight on the nose. (A 1-inch drop spring for an LS1 weight will be ever so slightly increased with the LT1 weight.)

So if you have Hotchkis LT1 springs on an LS1 car, it probably means the spring height might be a touch different. The rates are claimed the same for the different part numbers.

What's shocks would work well with the hotchkis lowering springs on an ls1? Looking for good handling and a smooth ride. Sorry for but butting in on a different thread.

Block, intake, alternator setup, and a few other things add some weight onto the nose.

IMO, Bilsteins and Tokicos are the best deal out there, but Koni shocks are superior if you can justify the extra cash.
