Default Drum Brakes

Alright guys I bought a 12 bolt from a memeber on here about 2 years ago and decided today would be the day to install it. Got most of the major part attached to it and out of the blue realized that it was set up for drum brakes instead of disc like my 10 bolt was.

I have no problem leaving the drum set up on it but it doesnt have the actual drum so I need to figure out what type of drums to get and also what else do I need to do to convert from disc to drum.

I realize this is completely opposite of what everyone does but I really want to get the car back on the road and dont feel like breaking apart the axle and hunting down backing plates

Most of the v6 93-97 fbodys came with drum brakes in the rear. You could probably go to a local junk yard and find a set or Rockauto has them for like $22 bucks new. Search under a 94 camaro with a v6.

thanks for the info.

Anyone know what I need to do to hook them up. Do I just use the brake lines from the disc brakes and that's it?

what did the 12 bolt come from originally? What backing plates are on it? You might need to look up the brake hardware for that, instead of a 4th gen. FWIW, your backing plates might just bolt up to the 12-bolt, which would get you the option of LS1 rear discs.

Reattaching a parking brake might be an issue. I also wonder if you'd need to install a proportioning valve if the new brakes grab much differently than the OEM ones?
