Default New wheel bearings=abs inob

I have never had a problem with the abs until now. I just installed new Timken wheel bearings and instant light. And yes they are plugged in properly. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. TIA

The problem can be in one of five places. You'll save a lot of time, grief, and expense if you get the ABS system scanned for codes. That will at least isolate where the problem is for you.

The bearings are directional - did you install the sensor/bearing the proper orientation? The sensor should have an arrow on it.

One had an arrow to the front. That one is on the right way. the other side didnt have one so i pointed the connector the same way. That could be the problem one. I may try and reverse it. Thank you two for replying. I really cant afford to take it in and have it scanned.

Scans should be free. Just ask your local parts store if they can scan for ABS codes.

I've never seen an auto parts store be able to scan ABS codes. He didn't have a problem with ABS until he installed the bearings. One of them is not reading correctly.

I had the same problem with a new set off ebay, seller sent me another and no issues. Also as pointed out they have arrows they need to face. Good luck!

Have you taken it for a drive? If everything is installed properly the light should go out on its own once you get moving.

If the bearings moved your wheel position on the
spindle then the ABS sensor may need to be moved
to follow. But you'd think that would be unlikely if the
bearings were right. It might also just be something
electrical came loose during the mechanical work, a
piece of tramp iron found its way to the pickup, or
some such.

^ I was thinking the same thing. If the bearings were the same thing from the same manufacturer, they should be marked. I'm wondering if one of the bearings may not be the right one and is some kind of re-pack or the product of a switch-a-roo.

Don't discount the possibility of a defective part as well. I've bought "new" parts that were bad in the past, not common but it does happen.

if you bought the hub ***. make sure they are the same width as the old ones. But im sure you said bearings so this make me believe one of them, or both of them may have not been intstalled properly throwing your hub out of wack. The abs runs off of magnets. I wont get into how this works but if the thickness is altered in any way it throws off wheel speed sensor reading. If it reads wrong you abs will come on(due to a bad input. this also means you have no abs at the moment) just double check your work and clean out the connectors while your at it. You also could have damaged the ring the sensor reads on the hub. Good luck. let us know when you found the problem.

The part in the box may not have been the one you purchased...

ahhh sounds like the bearing was not seated right. Judging by you replacing the assembly. Your better off. The hell with the trouble of a bearing on its own.
