Default LT1 to LS1 Front Brake Upgrade

I did it over the weekend. I got LS1 front spindles with calipers (nice and painted also). He (https://ls1tech.com/forums/member.php?u=150626) did an awesome job painting them and everything was rebuilt.

Here is a picture of them after the install:

I also got stainless lines, which I recommend doing since you are down there anyway!

So, if you have an LT1 and hate the crappy front brake setup, this is a great modification, and easy to do.

All you need is:

LS1 Spindles
LS1 Calipers
LS1 flexible lines (or stainless, which I recommend)
Rotors/Pads obviously (I went with OE, the drilled/slotted are not worth it)
An alignment after the install

Very good mod, I wish I did it sooner. The front caliper design on LT1s are such garbage. The pins were dumb, and a PITA.

Nope, they're not. I have LT1 lines on mine, as do others. All you need to do is bend the brackets a little.

I just have to get the rear calipers painted somehow... they are like silver/orange cause the silver is peeling lol.

You bent the bracket where the hard/flexible line meet on the car? which way did you bend them?

Bent them down to about a 45 degree angle to give the lines more reach. I made sure to turn the wheel lock to lock to make sure there was enough slack.

Looks good, ThoR.

I'm actually buying parts to do this swap, too. Any of you guys know if the ABS connector on the back of the hub is the same for LT1 and LS1 cars? I was probably gonna reuse my old hubs if its worth it.

Then all I should need are LS1 calipers, spindles, caliper brackets, pads, and rotors.

Thank you sir.

Not sure what I was thinking earlier, but if I'm gonna reuse my old hubs or buy new LT1 hubs, I wouldn't have to worry about the ABS connectors anyways lol. Had a special moment there.

Hubs on F-bodies usually don't go bad from what I hear. LS1 spindles are a dime a dozen . I posted that I wanted full LS1 spindles and my inbox exploded lol

I lost a front wheel bearing on my 94 Z28 with 80,000 miles on it. They do go bad.... But they are not expensive and they are not difficult to change.

Did you have a noise out of the front end before that?

Oh yeah. I had the right turn rumble. It was a drivers side hub. Only took 30 or so mins to change out.

haha well then! Generally when you get spindles you can feel if the hub is bad. You can swap them out if you want. Up to you
