Default Need rear brake bracket bolt!

So my rear brake bracket bolt fell out while I was driving. GM discontinued the part and I cant find one in any hardware store around. Does anyone have a spare lying around? This is the bolt that holds the bracket to the car, not the caliper to the bracket. It is a good size bolt, must be a GM bolt 10.9 flange head. Thanks

I might have one. I can check tonight if nobody closer chimes in.

Where did you hear this? I can't imagine they would discontinue the part. Its just a flange bolt and has got to be used on a number of different cars.

Did you get the P/N and ask your source to search other dealers? They should be sitting on shelves all over the place.

I forgot to look last night, but will look tonight, as I will be doing my brakes.

The parts list that I have doesn't seem to show the bolt, that may be the issue he is experiencing with his dealer.

can't they just get it transferred over to your dealer? Usually they have regular runs between dealers to trade parts or can just get it from the GM distribution center on their next shipment. It should just take 1-3 days for them to get it.

It is part number 10229606 and still shows to be available on line at GM parts places.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna check with them. My next door neighbor is a parts manager for Cadillac so he can probably find one/ get one for me.

Just to confirm, this is the bolt that you need, correct?

I believe I have several laying around if you can't source one. A few years ago I lost one and the only way to get them from gm was to order a pack of 10.

you could take another bracket bolt out, and take it over to Menards. Screw it into the fitment guide thingy, and then buy a bolt to fit. Too long? Cut it down. $1.50 at the most.

I never got an email for this thread so I assumed you went a different route.

Let me know if you still need it.

I've had it on my desk at work and just took it back home yesterday

The proper bolt is a high strength bolt, which you won't be able to find in a normal hardware store. The torque spec will also be off, so you'll want to change it out for the proper bolt ASAP.

Old thread but does anyone know where to get these? Lost one last night on the way home.
Ordered some from gmpartsgiant but just an email saying the order was canceled because the part is discontinued. Gmpartsdirect doesn't have it and I can't find an updated part number. Why would they discontinue a bolt?

Menards, Home Depot, lowes, tractor supply - just bring in a matching bolt, thread it into their metric thread matching thingie and you'll know what size to get. They all have grade 5 8 and 10.9 bolts
