Default Moog Upper Ball Joints

What is the sleeve used for with these balljoints? I installed mine without this:

I think it is a boot retainer IIRC, goes on the same way the original came off.

The "sleeve" is what keeps the grease IN the ball joint, and the dirt OUT. You didn't install it....????

I put the boot on the ball joint, the spindle to the ball joint, greased it and called it a day. Seems like the spindle keeps the boot on it fine.

So that part is more or less a clamp for the boot at the base of the ball stud... since it doesn't have a retainer ring or clamp. I'm thinking it will be fine.
