Default strut pulled through top mount.

I went over a not so big bump at an intersection and the car rode like normal but i heard a loud pop from the front end and the drivers side would not settle back down. so i babied the car home and jacked it up and saw the top of the strut, nut and all, jammed at an angle in the upper mounting area like it had pulled through the mount hole. I have competition engineering front struts with vorschlag (sp) lowering springs. i rarely drive the car.

im assuming i need new front struts and new mounts up top on both sides. anyone ever seen this happen before? what would be a good replacement for a car that gets minor track time and more cruising. i like the qa1 or strange but dont want to have to buy new springs.

It appears that your are missing the washer/insulator thing that goes on top of the mount. It is designed to prevent this exact thing from happening. It spreads the force out along the whole mount, instead of just on the small area the nut sits on.

You are missing the washer on top, I didnt realize I needed it as I sold my old struts all together. Both of mine pulled thru.
