Default is this safe?

I know gm put 4 for a reason, but I know some people don't put the t50 torx under the cylinder back on because its a pita. I'm just wondering if Its safe temporarily to use 3 bolts for the upper strut mount instead of 4. When putting them back in I guess the threads were rusted, looks like i stripped the bolt.

Should I buy a larger tap and new bolt and re thread it? I really don't want to take the struts off.again because it was a pita. It's the pass side, obviously i wont plan on making any hard turns or anything.

I'd say to try and run a tap through the spring mount, and see if you can get a new bolt to tighten up. If not, my other thought would be to see what kind of access you have on the bottom of the mount, and if you drilled the threads out of the insert, and used a regular nut and bolt.

Really doesn't look bad in the picture. Just clean up the threads. Loosen other bolts. Line up and try again.

I had an issue like this on drivers side with a brand new mount. I ended up going through bottom. Really tight but worked fine for 3 years now. Just pulled itself through

Threads look fine on my phone lol. I would invest in a tap and dye set. Great to have around to get out of a pinch. I would put the bolt in a.s.a.p. Can't say I wouldn't use the car for now though.

Why don't you just replace the strut mount. About 38 bucks off ebay.

^ This would be a wise investment. Cheap insurance to make sure a critical suspension component stay properly mounted.
