Default Rotor recommendation for a '00 Camaro SS

Hey guys,

Its time to get my Camaro some new rotors..just dont know which ones are decent.

She is used for mostly street not track. I need some quality rotors that wont break the bank. I'm leaning towards drilled/slotted rotors. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Last ones I bought were Bosch blanks, you get a limited lifetime warranty via O'Reilly Auto Parts...

Apparently the difference is long graphite strands in the metal, vs. inconsistent graphite clusters in low cost ones:

Best Brakes for blanks
Brakemotive for slotted/drilled

Almost all are made of the same iron alloy and machined the same way. You have to step up to the Racing Brake or DBA brakes to get something that isn't manufactured in China. Almost all the brakes, even the Brembo OE replacement stuff, are now manufactured there. I'd stay away from anyone charging more than about $50 a rotor, even machined, since they are all pretty much the same thing (Centric). You aren't getting better quality, unless you step all the way up to the DBA or RB rotors... which are more like $100-125 a rotor and are made in Australia or the USA.

I have two sets of Brakemotive on my car for the street and when used with the Hawk HPS pad they work well and seem to be holding up ok.

If you want a little more braking friction (due to increased friction of a blank disc), the Best Brakes are good. About $200 for the set and come with a 2 year warranty. If I were tracking my car routinely, I'd invest in those. Brakemotive are more for looks, but do look good and are very affordable. I think I picked up the set for my Trans Am for $138 shipped.

I have the drilled and slotted Brakemotive kit on my car, absolutely love it. Without a doubt I would buy again.

I run NAPA premium blanks on the street and the track. Fronts were $36 and they hold up just fine on the track.

If you're more concerned with looks, the Brakemotive slotted/drilled are a good value and look nice, however if function and cost are your primary concern, a set of basic blanks is the way to go.

Another Brakemotive user here. The cost was simply too good to pass up for someone like myself who won't see a race track with more than zero turns.

Their search on their site doesn't work half the time I've noticed and I'm not sure why. I use ebay's search directly and it works better. I just bought a set earlier this month, although I still haven't had a chance to install them yet.

Found 'em on Ebay.

Looks like for 8 pads and 4 rotors its gonna be $173 which is awesome.
I thought they also had slotted only rotors. I can only find drilled and slotted.

You'll need to send them a PM here; however, I requested just the slotted as well when I ordered mine but they sent drilled & slotted anyway. They were cheap enough that I did not bother to create a stink.

They haven't made slotted only for a few years. I don't mind the drilled they make as they seem to be quite conservative with their drilling and do it the right way. I don't know of any reports of cracks on their rotors.

Brakemotive doesn't go crazy with the cross-drilling, so I feel comfortable on the street with them.
