Default Why Is my ride so harsh and jarring

I have a 99 SS with strano springs and koni shocks. I have tried adjusting the shocks but regardless of how I adjust them even the smallest of bumps and changes in elevation in the road my car seems to bottom out and slam the bump stops. In the rear I can see where the the bumpstop has been hitting the rearend. In the front I can also feel a horrible thud over bumps like there is no suspension travel going on.

The ride is so harsh that on one of my front wheels the inner barrel developed a hairline crack on the edge of the barrel that I had to get repaired. Can these shocks be blown or are these springs too soft or something? Im ready to go back to stock because this ride sucks.

Any input or help is greatly appreciated.

Subscribed.

I'm in the same boat. Albeit I have Eibach springs and stock shocks but I'm interested to see the solutions offered here.

Most likely your shocks are blown. Strano and koni ride rough but don't bottom out

Yeah I was prepared for a firmer ride but this is just horrible. Feels like the car is gonna fall apart everytime I go over a bump.

Sounds like shock issues to me. I've seen them freeze up like this before and blow up where you get the trampoline bouncing going down the hwy. Both are indicators of shock failure.

Just sell the Konis as rebuilders and buy a set of Bilsteins. No money spent!

Do the bilsteins ride good? This is daily driver pretty much. Dont race it or anything. I mainly purchased these because I didnt want a crappy ride by using lowering springs and stock shocks but this rides worse than my cut springs and stock shock did on my formula.

I dont care of adjustability or anything I just want the car to be lowered a little and not ride like a john deere.

I have SLP bilsteins with BMR Springs. I daily my car. Firm ride but not violent unless I hit a really bad pot hole. By the way I LOVE the white C5Z. Probably one of my favorite cars.

I have SLP Bilsteins & Strano springs on my Formula, and the ride is pretty dang comfortable. It's definitely firm, and you feel big bumps, but the car feels really solid and the ride is actually more comfortable than stock, IMHO. The combination of that and the big sway bars on my car make the handling pretty stellar.

Same boat too.

I think Koni's are overkill unless you auto-cross.

I have Bilstein re-valves from Sam and it has been a good setup for the past 6 years. Koni's were just too much money and I wouldn't use them to their potential anyway.

Def sounds like your shocks are not working properly at all. This setup does not bottom out unless hitting very hard pothole or something. Should be a nice good firm ride that feels nice. Wherever you bought the shocks I'd contact them bc something is not right.

Sounds like something is legitimately wrong.
You bought the shocks and springs new right? They are single adjustable Konis correct? The adjuster in the front will turn 9 1/2 total sweeps, left to right, no more no less, correct?
Are the rears 3rd gen or 4th gen? Are they adjusted to full soft?
What tire pressure are you running?
What other suspension mods do you have, and did you install them with the koni/strano setup?
