Default Rear traction question after 3.90 gear install

I recently had 3.90s installed in my 2000 M6 SS. It makes 400rwhp and has a BMR adj TA. I've put about 80 miles on the gears since the install.

Hears my concern...

When I accelerate aggressively in first gear into second the car feels like its on the border of swaying to the left and right. It also feels like the car is lifting up more so than before. Now keep in mind I have stock tires that are in rough shape (that's not helping me). Just doesn't feel stable like it did before. The shop that installed the gears re adjusted my TA. Said it was off a bit. Set it to a -2. I dont think they had weight on the wheels when it was adjusted... Maybe the problem?

Am I just being a baby and need to get used to the new torque? Haha

I can tell you that tires make a night and day difference. I have a 91 camaro with a LS1 and t56 and 4.10 gears. It makes roughly 430 at the wheels. I ran some cheap rear tires at a point and the car just felt slow. Simply because I was always spinning tires at any given speed under 50 miles an hour.

I now run falkens on stock wheels at a width of just 245, even though it is much better, it will still literally just sway left to right untill I get off the throttle.

Cant wait to get my 295 width tires on!

Running over 400 rwhp with 4.10's and a 6-speed, and even on Nitto 555R's It is useless and the car is all over the map on the 1-2 shift

Totally agree. Regular street tires won't make a difference. No matter how wide you go.

This weekend I changed the settings on my KYB shocks. I had them at 5 on all four. Ended up setting the front to 3 and the rear to 8. Made a world of difference. I still smoke the shot out of the stock tires but on the highway in 3rd it feels strong and stays straight. I ordered some Toyo TQs on Sunday. I'm hoping to get better results with drag radials on the back.

Don't waste your money on street tires man. Not going to help much.

That Toyo drag radial is much better than the 555R and lasts just as long. Great street/strip tire IMO

That's what I've been reading on here. Been reading about tires for weeks lol. Figured that would be best for me. Even if I still spin a little I'm ok with that seeing I still have the stock rear end excluding the gears.

So I put some NT05s on yesterday and my passenger rear tire had a pile of shredded rubber. Guess my rim was spinning?
With that said it drives like a entirely different car.
