Default Which Sub-Frame Connectors

Okay, I'm about to purchase some SFC's for my car, along with a Loudmouth. Summit Racing now carries the LM for $349.95, so since they are right by my house, I'm going with that. They also carry SFC from Addco. Doesn't say whether or not they are tube or box, although they look like box from the pic. They are weld-in and cost $169.95. Sound good???

weld-in's are the best. Yes that is a good deal, and a good product from what I have learned.

SLP -- Woot woot!!!

Have you seen those fu***** things. Do they make bigger subframes?

Anyhow, it would partially depend on if you are or are going to lower your ride. They hang pretty damn low.

I welded in BMR tubulars last weekend with their LCAs and what a difference.I don't like the box style because they show amost 3/4" below the pinch weld.Tubulars are stealthy.

This would be better in the handling section. I would check with Don Goetz about his bolt-on SFC before buying the Summit ones. Not sure what the distance is from you but Don lives in Mason, Ohio. dgoetz3@cinci.rr.com

My boxed Hotchkis are tucked in really tight and cost me 150.00 at the time. I think it pretty much depends on your goals.

Another vote for SLP weld-ins! My car is lowered 2.5 inches, and the only time they hit is going through an automatic car wash. The Y pipe would be lower on most cars.

I too am considering getting some suspension parts..TR has a sale on BMR.
Are there any negatives to welding the sfc to the body...i.e. possibility of weakened
metal,corrossion,etc?

TIA guys,

Tony

No, proper welds won't weaken the sheetmetal, and just make sure you paint over top of the welds as soon as they're cool to prevent rust formation. Oh, and make sure they're welded while the suspension is loaded (i.e. drive on lift) or else the body might end up a bit twisty

I just got some "BMR" sbc's and lofe them so far. The car doesn't even flex at all. And being a convertible, I needed them badly!

Default About To Buy Some SFCs

Thinking very long and hard about these BMR SFCs from thunder racing. I was gonna go with the tubular weld in ones, even though they are supposedly a bit less rigid than the boxed ones. I'm on kind of a tight budget, and I figure I'd pocket the $30.00 difference and put it toward something else for the car. Will I reallly regret getting the tubular ones, or is it no big deal??

With my boxed SFCs, I put my floor jack mid-door on the connector and jack the whole side up, NASCAR style.

Makes jackstand placement very easy.

So I gather I should just get the boxed kind and suck up the 30 bucks. How much do they show from outside the car??

This question has come up many, many times. The boxed style hardly show at all; you pretty much have to get right down on the pavement next to your car to see the boxed SFCs. And they don't hang down very low so don't fret about ground clearance either - the Y-pipe hangs lower.
