Rockauto assembled control arms
Has anyone here installed the pre assembled front control arms from rockauto? They are listed under the MEVOTECH brand, but O'Reilly also sells them under MasterPro. It would only be $230 for all four with a 5 year warranty. Pretty tempting to not have to deal with pressing the old stuff out and new stuff in. Just curious if anyone has tried them.

I did. Been searching all day. It's just that shops around my area want $150 per side JUST to press the new bushings in, with me doing all the work of removing an installing on the car. $78 for those new arms with new bushings looked really good. Heh

There is plenty of feedback on the quality of mevotech parts if you read around. I wouldn't even consider anything less than moog.

I was in the same boat as you. I was about to pull the trigger on a set but I found an alignment shop that pressed out my front lower bushings and ball joints and pressed new hardware in. i did the uppers my self. I did not go with Moog. So far so good. I would try them and see how they turn out. If you buy them and you do not like the quality then take them/send them back.

I know a guy who tried using one of their ball joints and the shaft sheared off of it during install.
I've pretty much stayed away after that. Maybe I'm not being fair to them but I'm not risking it and just sticking with what I know will hold together. Suspension is not something I want to risk cheaping out on.

When I rebuilt my front end I was still able to get the control arms from GM, and I think the price then was $200 to $250.
But, having replaced bushings and ball joints in the past, I think purchasing an assembled control arm is a bargain. You could spend an entire day cleaning and painting the old rusted arm and then later find out that the ball joint fits to loose in the socket.
Not sure about the quality of the Mevotechs, but I think you are on the right track buying the assembled unit; 20 year old suspension bushing can put up quite a fight. Some times you win the fight and get everything pressed out, but loose the war by damaging the arm. Certainly there are other brands out there?

Yeah, and while I still use moog and I like their problem solver for the front lcas, when I received my rear lca bushings from rock auto ,they didn't match. I had three of one kind and one of another. I went to oreilly and got two more and they were the same as the one odd one!!! So I had three of each. Rock auto said its due to moogs outsourcing. One of the types both had to be shaved on the inside of the metal where the bolt goes in order for it to fit. Then I returned the two odd I had left to oreilly. But yeah, what a pain. They were close but a slightly different design. They all said " made in Mexico". I'll take that over China ,but still ,come on. Make your bushings match please.
