Default 1le swaybars

Will the 1le front and rear swaybar be a significant improvement over stock, or should i just save up for something else like lg or hotchkis? I found them for $180 for both on gmpartsdirect, but i don't want to go cheap and end up buying something else later. Also, would i need 1le springs and new shocks to go with it or can i use the stock ones for a while?

It would be pretty nice improvment for the money. 35mm front sway bar is nothing to sneeze at. Granted it is hollwo, but would still be an improvement. Change the end links too. The other bars, some are hollow and some are solid, have a nicer finish, so that could be soemthing to consider.

The 1LE front bar is 32mm.

Actually, it depends on what year 1LE you're talking about. The older ones are 32 mm hollow, while while the newer ones were 35 mm but still hollow. I believe all 1LE rear bars (for 4th gen) are 21 mm solid. The 1LE package as offered by GM disappeared for awhile, then came back but then they were built by SLP. That's when the front bar's changed.

As for a recomendation, the 21 mm solid rear 1LE bar is great and it or some other 21 mm bar are used by many racers. However, many use the Suspension Techniques 35 mm SOLID bar on the front, and this is a better match to the 21 mm solid than the 1LE front that comes with it. The reason is, GM designed the car to understeer so when you lose control, you go off the road front end first . . . that way you can see what you are about to slam into!
