Street/Drag front setup
I'm looking to see what you guys setups are for a street strip car that drives on the street more. I'm going to be running skinnies with a umi sway bar and bilsten shocks. I know that this is not the best setup, but looking for ideas on what to do.

Do you drive like an idiot? If not take the dang front sway off and get you an adjustable front shock or coilover. Not gonna get much better then that as a compromise setup.

We have sold hundreds of coil over fronts to customers doing the same thing. Either Strange, Afco, or Viking. Give us a call we can definitely get you taken care of and we always have the best prices. (309)382-6252
Like 01ssreda4 said if you are looking to hook that front sway bar has to go. Not like you will be diving into corners anyway with a narrow front wheel.

Like others have said I would definitely take the front sway bar off at least while you are at the track as it will allow the front suspension to move more freely allowing the car to transfer weight. You can always put it back when you drive the car on the street or if you drive like a normal person it isn't bad to drive on the street without a front sway bar. I actually did it for 4-5 years in my old T/A.

With you driving it that little on the street you could definitely go with a more drag oriented shock setup and be set. I just have a feeling that you will be disappointed with the drag performance of the Bilstein shocks.

If I were you, I'd give the guys at Midwest Chassis a call and discuss their Viking coilovers. I ordered my front and rear Viking coilover setup from them, and they really took the time to find out how I drive the car, what I use the car for, the weight of the car, current modifications and future modifications, etc. They use all of that information to determine the correct spring rates for the front and rear. The Viking coilover setup is very reasonably priced and provides you with a lot of adjustability.

I drive around in full kill mode every time I take the car out. No front bar, drag rear bar, vikings on all 4 corners set for traction, low rear tire psi, full spool in the 12 bolt, and if I didnt tell you youd never notice. The car can be driven normally with little to no ill effects. Knowing my panic maneuvering is diminished I do not tailgate and I'm more alert overall but other then that its a sunday drive.

A spool on the street truly isn't that bad. I've been doing it my entire life and never see a reason not to go spool right off the bat. Unless you plan on doing more than drag racing then I'd suggest something else. From the age of 16 I had a vehicle with a spool in it and now many MANY years later I still have a driver with a spool in it.
People worry about driving with a spool and the best example I can use is look at all the vehicles on Power Tour that most likely have spools and Drag Week vehicles that I'd guarantee has spools. Even when I had my Prostreet 78 Camaro with 29x12 tire it had a spool and I drove that car everywhere. I hated driving it with the powerglide more than the spool ever annoyed me.

We have had so many of these cars on scales we just know what works and that is also why a big percentage of all the fast F-Bodys run all our suspension front to back.

I drive mine all over just like I race it. I do have 17x7's up front though which is a lot better than the 17x4.5's I ran before. I have strange SA up front and cheap comp shocks in the rear. Also have a drag bar and no front sway. When the weather is nice I routinely drive it over 100 miles every time it leaves the garage. That's on a ET Pro tire as well.
