Default What's the best brake upgrade for a LT1 F-body?

I have a 1997 Z that I had put LS1 front brakes on with drilled and slotted rotors.
The car now has a 9" rearend with stock LT1 brakes.
The car has a LS motor with around 400 HP @ the rear tires.
What would be my best cost effective upgrade without going overboard?

Thanks,
Rob

Ditch the drilled rotors as they do nothing for performance and you risk causing cracks in them.
Quality blank rotors plus good pads will do wonders, its all about the pad...
Call Sam Strano and talk to him, he'll hook you up with a great setup.

I third this...solid rotors and good pads with the LS1 front/LT1 rear will be plenty until you get into serious road racing.

CTS-V 4 Piston Calipers in Front if you're on a budget.
CTS-V 6 Piston Calipers if you have a bit more spending money, I recently did mine on my 1999 Z28.

Right now I have C5 Vette brakes & braided lines and when I track it I use Hawk DTC-60 or 70 brake pads with fresh SOLID rotors and fresh high temp brake fluid. The braking from about 150 to 35 or so in turn 5 at Road America does put my passengers faces into the dashboard lol.

Now I'm in the process of going to the 6 piston CTS-V brakes and looking forward to more obscene braking power

Keep in mind there is different brake gaps for LT brakes and LS brakes.

We have done a few Kore3 brake kits over the years and real nice stuff for the money.

Here is a couple pictures of one I assembled not to long ago.

I do not recommend fixed calipers on the rear of these cars UNLESS you have c-clip eliminators. With C-clips the axles slide back and forth, and if the caliper is fixed that knocks the pistons back into the caliper and give you a really long brake pedal. Also this car is nose heavy, and solid axle. Which means you don't need a massive amount of rear brake relative to the front.

As for the front. There are a lot of options. LS1 brakes can work pretty darn well for street use, even some drag racing with the proper pads and fluid. But will never feel as good as a proper fixed caliper up there. BUT if the car has crap hubs that are all worn out you will get pad knockback (but that happens with any brakes even the LS1's). We have kits that convert over to 4 piston calipers and use inexpensive rotors. We have big complete brake kits that can give you 4 or 6 piston calipers and up to 14" rotors that are two piece (and designed to for the car and the OEM Master unlike slapping on Brembo's from other cars that had very different setups in the rear stock (and different weights).

Default 94 z28 z23 brake upgrade

Power stop z23 kit upgrade. Besides front spindles what's needed to be done to the rear to complete this upgrade. Does this upgrade require different hoses and brackets?
