Default K member retaining nuts stripped 98 Camaro

I just installed a umi k member but when I tried putting the long bolts back in they just stripped out.

Are these available to buy new, or do I have to get used ones?

Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do to fix it?

Right now I have 4 loose bolts holding the k member up.

Thanks

Did you use the (4) M12-1.75x40mm bolts we supply with the K-Member?

Hi Craig, i did not get any bolts with my k member other than the engine mount bolts.

I was under the impression that I had to reuse my stock bolts

If you stripped out the nut inserts in the frame rail you'll have to pinch and remove the metal retainer things from the inside of the frame rail and either replaces with used ones or repair if the threads are repairable.

I checked everything I have and I do believe I have the correct bolts (my wife threw all of my hardware for my k member and torque arm relocation trans xmember in one box) i thought that these were the trans xmember bolts.

I feel a little stupid now.

Thankfully I think I only stripped one of the k member retainers, the others just never tightened up. I'll have to run a tap through to see if I can save it

Measure measure measure! I wouldn't run a tap right away, no need in jumping in all ***** nilly with a tap to find out you made it worse. Try cleaning/chasing the threads first. UMI may need to jump in again to verify this is safe, but Heli-Coil makes a M12x1.75 (you'll also need a 31/64 drill bit). I've never had to replace the retainers, so I don't know how big of a pain it is (if any).
