Driving over dips in the road - that’s DIPS, not patches, potholes, speed bumps, etc. Dips. My car makes a terrible kaBANG from what I think is the rear right. So hard sometimes, it feels like I get a slight headache from it.
If it’s just me in the car, or maybe plus my two kids, it doesn’t *usually* happen.
If there’s a third person, and backpacks in the trunk, then it’s definite.

Of course it doesn’t happen when my mechanic does a road test. I guess I’d have to load the trunk before taking it in.

Possibly related: when the car starts moving (like from a traffic light), I hear a va va va va sound coming from the rear of the car. No movement/vibration, just the noise. It goes away once I reach driving speed.

So, is there anything I should tell them to look for?

Loose shock bolt?

Shocks could be blown and fatigued springs, hitting the bump stops under compression. Could also be a bad bushing in panhard, LCA or similar. Make sure all the bolts to sway bar, control arms and all are tight as well. Several possibilities, but not a lot of stuff back there and easy to work through and diagnose.

Frame connectors on it. If so re torque back bolts.

The bump stops had completely disintegrated. Had them replaced yesterday. Haven't gone over any dips yet. Hoping this was the solution. Thanks for the suggestions!
