Springs and Subframe combo
The guy at TBryne said that the Prokit and a subframe connectors would be good first suspension mods. Is this a good start or are shocks a must?

If you are going to replace the springs, spend the extra money and do the shocks at the same time - it's worth it!
FYI, I have hypercoils with SLP Bilsteins and SLP bolt in subframes! The hypercoils with SLP bilsteins are a nice combo!
Just my .02

Subframes and shocks are going to give you the biggest handling differences, initially.
Bilstein HD's will handle many different combo's. So will Koni SA fronts and Bilstein HD rears (this combo can also lower you 3/4 in front and 1/2 in rear).

SFC's are a must...made a huge difference
I just put Hotchkis springs on my car, and again, made a HUGE difference. I did leave the springs on for now, even though my car is a 2000, it only has 12K miles on it, so I left them. Just didnt have the extra money right now, but the springs still made a huge difference in how the car feels/corners/launches.

that's super, personally though, I needed to get rid of the 4x4 look and I couldn't afford it all at once, so the springs went on first...and I don't regret it for a sec, the car handles awesome!

Like I said earlier, with the right shocks, you can lower your car 3/4" in front and 1/2" in rear. Koni SA fronts and 3rd Gen Bilstein HDs in rear.
