Question Swapping HAL shocks for type R question

For anyone who has taken off HAL shocks, I've been told that if you move the spring perch all the way to the bottom the spring will not have any tension? So has anyone tried this, I know it will be easy to check once the shock is off the car but would be nice to know if I should get a spring compressor.

Yes that is right, if you already have HAL shocks on the car and are putting on the "R" Series you will not need a spring compressor. The only issue I ran into is I didn't compress the spring far enough when reistalling them and My BMR perches where hitting the brake line so make sure you compress them before reinstalling them. I think my springs measured between 11" and 12" when reinstalled.
