why is my steering wheel stuck upside down?
I started to feel a lot of play in my steering wheel one night. next thing I know, the steering wheel is upside down and I am still driving straight! WTF?
I get under the car to see whats up and notice a large crack in the steering rack underneath the car. I dont know how the crack happend or what I need to do to replace it. the steering wheel doesnt barly move right now and I am scared to drive it to a shop.
here is a pic of the damage...

notice the large portion of covering that is missing right next to the steering knuckle. any ides on what I should do? how much will this cost to fix?
this is on a 2000 z28 w/ lid, kn, tb bypass, jet hot LTs, GMMG. six speed.

Ouch!!!!!! The only thing you can do is replace the rack that on is junk and unrepairable.
Look like you might have hit have hit something on the road.
As far as cost I don't know, the new one I've seen I think went for like for like 350.00 with core charge and your is definitly not be able to be use as a core
P.S. The rack I just looked up on line was........................ 207.00 for the rack + 150.00 core charge=357.00 for reman rack plus labor is you have someone else do the work.
Oh yea, and what ever you do DON"T DRIVE IT till it has been replaced!!!!!!!
Get it towed to the shop.
