"I competed in the Sport Compact Car Mag "Ultimate Street Car Challenge" last week in my 2800lb (full tank of gas without driver) 439rwhp/385rwtq LS1 powered RX-7. 49.5% front/50.5% rear weight. Cross weighting was within 1lb of each other with me in it.

I just got off the phone with SCC Mag and they said I can post at least my skidpad numbers.... I can't post any other results as the issue won't be published for many months.

1.13g's going one direction (one of the highest they have ever recorded) and 1.06g's going the other on a 200ft skidpad. Avg is 1.09g's. You can guess how I did in that particular challenge with those numbers.

This was on 18x10.5" CCW's with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 285/30/18 (unshaved) tires at all corners and used 550/450 Eibach coilovers with used GAB Super R shocks, used TriPoint adj front bar, used stock rear bar, new zerk fitting'd JimLab bushings.

And who says the LS1 kills the handling of the FD now? "

Fella's... Realize that this car was on R-compound tires like I race on, not true street tires (though they are DOT legal). A stock Z28 on a set of those will pull about 1.05g on a good skidpad vs. MAYBE .9 on any normal street tire. My car (the one I used to win my 2nd Solo2 National Championship last year) will pull and hold around 1.2 on a set of R-tires with are 315's, and I have other work done too. Also this RX7 is on 10.5" wheels, weights not a lot, and has a favorable weight distrubtion. I can see it pulling 1.13 for sure, but it's not exactly a normal RX7 either!!!

FWIW...According to the factory, a stock Z28 does about .88g with stock tires.
Equipped with the bilstein suspension .93g and 1.0g for the 1LE.

R compound tires will change those numbers dramatically.

And remember that the skidpad itself will hugely effect those numbers. A 300' diameter smooth concrete pad will give much higher numbers than a 150' asphalt pad, let alone one that's not flat or has bumps.

1g for a 1LE on stock tires is a pipe dream, and .93 is a little unreasonable as well..... But high .8's/.9 is attainable with a good site, the right tires and a decent alignment.

Those numbers did seem high, they might have been on R tires but I don't remember.

Sam's right - I'm not impressed.

If you CAN'T pull over 1g with race tires, you need help!

Ok well what kind of numbers are the SS quys on stiffened QA1s looking at on a slalom? I read that stock teh SS attaims 60.Xmph and the Z06 is 66.X mph.....

I don't car what people say, these damn cars handle like a mofof without the damn F1s! Hell with R compound tires.....they can be sick. The problem we see is height and axle travel. We can control one, but the solid rear axle means we need a smooth surface to operate at our full potential. I'm a drag racing guy so I don't really get into this much, but I plan on getting a WS6 or an SS to road race.....eventually.
