Default Bolt that connects brake line to caliper wont tighten?

I had to replace the caliper on my 2000 SS.
First I took the two bolts holding the caliper against the rotor.
Next I took the bolt out that held the brake line and caliper together.
I bought the new caliper(had to drive across town twice because I didnt know that you had to take the bleeder valve cover off and use on the new one!)
Anyways, I have the new brake pads on, I attach the caliper back on with the 2 bolts.
Now I went to connect the brake line to the caliper, and I used my fingers to start the bolt to avoid crossthreading, and it gets to the point where I have to use the socket and the problem is, the bolt never tightens!
I put the copper ring on each side, still doesnt tighten. There is a hole in the side of the bolt. Does that have to line up with the hole in the brake line?
I'm kind of stumped. Maybe its a defective caliper? It looks pretty straightforward.

The hole doesn't line up to anything. And yes if it won't 'snug' down you have a problem.

Those copper "washers" are crush seals. If you don't have a leak now, at some point you probably will. These are your brakes, we're talking about, you know?

Sounds like you bought a reman caliper. I suspect the threads are toast.

That them back. You do not want to loose your brakes going 100+mph do you.

FYI, was defective caliper...just my luck...Must have been machined wrong because there was no threading inside. I went back to the original parts place and they didnt have another caliper for the driver side, and for the hell of it I compared the caliper with a passnger side. I could clearly see the threading on the other caliper.
So I got my money back, drove across town to the other parts store that had the part and to make a long story short, got home put the caliper on with no difficulties. Could almost be compared to changing the oil(how easy it is). HArdest part is taking off the tires and jacking it up!
Thanks for the replies guys! It definately was a learning experience.
