Default Painted calipers and cross drilled slotted rotors are on...

Just put the front brakes back together. What do ya guys think?

LOL I knew someone was gonna say that. Theres about half of it there. My buddy is porting my heads and im I will be ordering a Torquer V2 this week. So she should be rippin.
SpeedinT/A- Yea I thought the decal was too small of a detail so I went with out it.

looks good, those slots will drive you mad, mine pulse, you can feel the slots under 30 mph braking.

Those would be dimpled, not drilled right?? I think dimpled are better against warping.
Yours pulse darryl??? Is that normal with slotted rotors??(never had them) Are you sure they're not warped?

Great noone told me that... My stupid clutch has been driving me mad for the past 2 years also so I guess its just another thing added to the list.
TryingT/A- they are drilled the pics just make them look like they a dimpled.

How old is your spec3?? mine has about 10k and still going strong

It has roughly 15-20k on it. It chatters pretty bad and is kinda soft. I stupidly got my stock flywheel cut and they had to take a lot off so I think that has something to do with it.

I'd get another spec3 but with an aluminum flywheel, less rotating mass. Mine has the steel flywheel, much heavier, but cheaper. It came with the car, but when I have to replace it, I will not cut corners. I can see having problems with a stock flywheel, especially cut. You will pay enough for labor when replacing the clutch, so the extra 300 bucks or so for the aluminum fw will not be such a big deal.

Looks great! I am in the process of doing the same thing to both my rear and front calipers and I am going with the camaro lettering on the front calipers.

What paint kit or kits did you use to paint your calipers???

I used 500 degree high temp engine paint... a coat of primer and about 3 coats of the orange paint and whole lot of clear.

Well, the job looks very professionally executed. I do not have a whole lot of time to do this job due to my schedule, so I am doing it whenever I can.

Last night I spent one hour cleaning the rear calipers with some steel brushes, a drill and a Dremel. From what I understand, the surface needs to be immaculate before I apply the paint. What cleaning process/surface preparation did you use to get the paint to stick?

I used break clean to get some of it off than brought them to work and put them on the wire wheel which worked great. I was thinking about just leaving them after the wire wheel because the shined up real nice.

I agree. The steel wheel works very well. After I work the calipers a little more with the wheel/brush I am going to use caliper cleaner that came with the kit.

For those of you who are going to do the same procedure I highly recommend it. Also, I think it is a good idea to use some latex or similar gloves so that no hand oils make their way to the clean surface.

I am very keen on the way drilled rotors look. I'm not too keen on the drilled rotors' performance, however. A friend of mine has a set of Baer drilled and slotted rotors on the front of his 'Vette. The rotor snapped in half under somewhat heavy braking and caused the caliper and remainder of rotor to be blown off into the spokes of his ZR-1 wheels. Well, going at about 50 M.P.H. or so, you can imagine the kind of damage that did to the wheel and his safety.
