Default Weld draglite fitment on LS1.

Hi everybody,
I plan on putting 15" wheels for the track and loved the draglites look. Is there any website that shows the install of 3.5" draglite. I'd like to know:
1- where and how much to grind the front calipar (I have LS1 fronts)?
2- what size spacer is needed?
3- ARP studs part number and lugnuts?
4- What fron tires are yu running?
Thanks in advance.

If you use a 5/16th spacer, no grinding is necessary. Although I will be grinding soon and getting rid of the spacer.

I run 165R/15 tires from Pep Boys

5/16 spacer in the front or back? why would you remove the spacer and grind more? would grinding to this level have any bad effect on the calipar? and what about studs and lugnuts?
Sorry for all the questions, but I've got to get it right from the first time and order all the parts at once.
Thanks again

I'm very interested in this as well.. being that i just got some weld draglites 15x8's.
Do you need to put 5/16 spacers on front and back?? I have 50's in the back and they wouldn't even turn... can you just get these spacers at a perf. shop local??

didn't mean to butt in on your thread .. but i was about to post the same thing.

TTT
I too am going to do welds all the way round soon and I'd prefer to not grind the caliper. Is there any safety concern with spacers? Also, with longer "race" studs, will it effect the look I have right now with my ZR1 rims and chrome lugs?

OK guys, here's what I had to do. My fronts are 15x3.5 DragLites. I run no spacers on the fronts. I had to grind the **** out of them to get them to fit. Just take your time and grind and test fit periodically til they spin freely. My rears are 15x10 DragLites. On the back, I run a 5/16" spacer and ground the **** outta the calipers too. With 15x10's, you have to use a spacer and grind. Just take your time and grind and test fit periodically til they spin freely. Also, when you try to fit the rims, make sure you jack the car up by the axle and not the body. The snubber over the axle tube will rub and not let them go on if you don't.

End result is this with a stock suspension:

Oh, and I also used ARP extended studs on the rear to be safe. If you run a spacer on the rear this is a must have for safety. They are strong as hell and won't snap like the stock studs.

I believe my fronts are 15x4's and I only had to grind a very small bit to clear but I did have to get extended studs for them. I ordered the studs from Moser and it was like $20 for all 10 studs plus shipping. They still are fine with my factory lugs and wheels because I have the little plastic covers on mine with the WS6 wheels.

The rears are a whole different animal. I too have 15X10 wheels and I ground the **** out of one and I don't like it.Don't know if it will affect it or not. I haven't done the other one yet. Gonna check on spacers. My Moser rear should already have long enough studs to handle the spacers but I will see.

I really didn't like the idea of grinding either but I need the added traction now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Oh yeah as far as tires go I bought them with tires already on em. I believe they are just el-cheapo 165-15's and MT ET Drags on the back tubed with screws.

Oh, and how did Plowtown become such an expert on Weld Wheels....oh wait, I sold him my spare set of rear rims, and told him what he needed!!!
Wassup Plowtown!
ARP Studs are MANDATORY, they are inexpensive, and I drive with confidence that a wheel wont come off.

you are going to have to get shank style lug nuts to run the Weld brand drag lites. I would never recommend grinding a caliper or the wheel itself to get it to fit. The spacers wont hurt anything. You can order them at jegs or summit or even on ebay.

I was told I could not fit welds on the front of a mustang I had when in all reality I only had to remove the guard bar at the front of the caliper mounting arm. It did not interfere with the caliper's operation, and for no more of a drive time than I had it, that modification never gave me an issue.

If you want a real close looking setup, order the jegs sport lite wheels. they are made of machined aluminum and could possibly fit without grinding anything. Plus, if you do decide to grind on those wheels and screw one up, its less than $100 and free shipping for a new one in 2 days.
