Default Rubber boot on caliper torn - bad thing?

I was putting my track pads on last nite to burnish them before Road Atlanta this weekend, and I noticed on of the rubber boots covering the piston is torn. I must have pinched it putting the new pads on 2 weeks ago. Is this a big enough deal to have to fix it or just let it go. Brakes will be heavily used this weekend, so I do not want to have any issues with brakes.

BTW - those track pads really put out the dust. Wheels look like they are gun metal coated now.

Over time, it could be an issue.

However, it shouldn't hinder your track weekend. As a matter of fact, you'll probably melt them after a weekend at Road Atlanta.

Gmpartsdirect.com sells a rebuild kit for about 12.00. There are various write up's to rebuild the calipers.

Here is the part # AC Delco # 173-294 Gm # 18026160

Just finished doing all 4, note 2 kits required for each front caliper.

Like mitch said, I wouldnt worry about it because its just the dust boot, but I would replace it after the track event tho.
