Default what's up with my parking brake?

hey guys and gals. i'm not sure what is up with my parking brake. a few days ago, i was setting the parking brakek and when i pulled it upwards it went higher than normal. i didn't pull it hard or anything, it just reached its peak and it sounded like something broke and continued upwards. it concerned me, but the parking brake was still working fine. now, just a few miutes ago i parked the car in the garage. again, as i set the parking brake, it sounded like something broke and went up higher than usual. both times that this has happened i have not pulled it harder than usual. my question is, is something broken? should i get it checked out? what does this mean? thanks.

p.s: search is down.

Mine does that as well, so does my friends. One time I was sitting in my car at Sonic and the E-Brake popped and my car started rolling backwards. Thankfully I'm really good about leaving my car in gear when I shut it down, Ive got a M6 BTW. Im not too concerned.

I thought there was a way to tighten your ebrake up closer to the tranny? I may be wrong but I will check it out.

undue your console and see if the silver thing holding the cord hasnet flipped down. Mine used to go all the way up and not engage then i just flipped that part back up and that fixed the problem.
