Default Power steering cooler idea, help needed.

I have the ws6 with the radiator hose power steering cooler. My question is; I have a griffin radiator that has provisions for a transmission cooler that I don't use, that's 5/16" line. If I plumbed a 5/16" return line to the power steering that is 3/8 and use a reducer at the pump to 3/8 would it hurt anything. Would it stress the pump pushing through the smaller line all that way and or pushing that much liquid through the radiator? It would be nice to clean up the area above my blower head unit where the radiator hose/power steering cooler is and its related return lines. Boone.

Not sure, but a turn-one modified pump, along with an underdrive pulley (keeping the OEM) cooler should provide way more PS cooling than you need for most anything.

There is a reason why folks don't do that, but can't recall the reason for certain.

I think it's because of the spike pressures the power steering system sees.

Most transmission coolers can not handle the pressure seen on the power steering.

Don't forget this is just the return lines with the band clamps and regular hose, not the high pressure side. I know my high pressure hose is different and very firm compared to the return. Do you guys still think it would be too much pressure. The stock lines for the transmission lines are flare fittings and hard lines, so they must see some pressure. Would this not be true? I don't know as I don't know anything about auto transmissions. Boone

OK thank you everyone for the responses I appreciate the help. I guess if everyone thinks it might blow a hole in my radiator I wont hook it up. I dont want the stock cooler in the way of the top of the blower as ive moved the rad forward and down and its perfecly in the way of sdce belt adjustment and blower oil check ect, even worse than it already was. I was contemplating a Turn One ps pump but decided to try just a Redline PS fluid change. I haven't gotten any power steering whining at all on the racing events that I've done so far. If you also get the whining sound, try Redline out.

That is why I took mine out and put a regular hose in there.

The hose is what I did along with the redline fluid change. Also got a upper radiator hose that's for some truck, the parts store was cool enough to let me look through there stock and compare shape, to choose.
