Default Steering wheel play

The Steering wheel on my 98 Trans Am has alot of play? in it.

What i mean is when parked (or driving) i can move the steering wheel up and down 1/4" or so. I am guessing something is worn out, but not sure.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

If the car is still responsive, it might (just sonething to look at) be the tilt column mechanics. My steering wheel/column moves a bit too...

Not sure how easy of a fix, or if it is fixable, but there should be a little play from the tilt just because of the mechanics of the gears or tabs for the adjustments. I only occationally notice my wheel move around, usually when I lean up in my seat is when I notice any play in the tilt.
